The first day of my Macworld Excursion was a long day, no doubt about it. Traveling to the other coast is never a quick jaunt, but everything went smoothly.
The day started at 4 a.m., as we left for the airport from my friend Mike’s place. Six in the morning is a great time to fly, smooth sailing through security.
We got into Chicago around 6 local, and we each continued our personal tradition: a Sausage McMuffin with Egg from the O’Hare McDonalds. He eats the egg… I do not. I have no idea what he is thinking either.
The 4 hour, 38 minute flight from Chicago to San Francisco was notable only by the turbulance we experienced somewhere around the Rockies.
After some confusion (due to a lack of preparation), we took BART to our hotel, a swankly little joint called the Argent Hotel. Fifteeth floor, looking out over Market and 3rd.
The highlight of the day was meeting up with an old gaming clan partner from back in the day: a 17-year-old guy named Striker (aka the Asian Sensation). He came down and met us around the Apple Store, and we took the city by storm.
Well, maybe “by storm” is a bit strong. We hung out in a gelato cafe for a bit, then to the arcades for two hours. Someone call the tabloids, it’s Guys Gone Mild.
And I did. I punished my poor stomach. Between the Sausage McMuffin, the (very good) Mexican food for lunch, the Mountain Dew, a giant gelato milkshake…. I was hurting around 8 p.m.
We were also succumbing to jet lag, so we packed it in early, set up our hotel room network (NERDS!), and started to plan the rest of our week.
I can tell you one thing: we may not sleep for awhile
